Wrestlers Showcase Depth in Win Over Rival Owatonna

The Raiders traveled to Owatonna Thursday night to battle the Huskies in a conference
dual. Under the spotlight Northfield won eight matches to win 36-30.

The night started with 106 pounder Caley Graber, ranked first in the Minnesota High
School girls division, pinning Kaden Lindquist in her first varsity match of her career. Northfield
leads 6-0. At 113 pounds, 8th ranked in Class AAA, Caden Staab wrestled a great match
winning an 8-4 decision against Donoven Sorenson. Northfield leads 9-0. At 120 pounds Zane
Engels came out ready to wrestle, getting a fall against Jayden Jirele. Northfield takes a great
lead,15-0.
At 126 pounds, Keith Harner wrestled a tough match against Lane Karsten. Karsten won
by decision 10-4. Northfield leads 15-3. At 132 pounds, seventh grader Sam Harner won by
decision of 4-1 against Parker Casas. Northfield leads 18-3. At 138 pounds, Austin Benjamin
wrestled his first varsity match against Michael Reinardy and lost by fall. Northfield still leads 18-9

At 145 pounds, Northfield forfeited against Jack Sorenson. Northfield leads 18-15. At 152
pounds, Iah Schweich wrestled a long match against Mason Blum but Blum won by fall.
Owatonna leads 21-18. At 160 pounds, ninth ranked Class AAA, Jackson Barron wrestled a
tough match against third ranked Class AAA Cael Robb who won by decision 6-1. Owatonna
leads 24-18.
At 170 pounds, Colin Staab started the Raiders back on a winning run, beating RJ
Reinardy by a 12-6 decision. Owatonna leads 24-21. At 182 pounds, Ella Pagel, ranked first in
Minnesota High School girls division, wrestled a great match against Ryan Felts in which Pagel
won by fall. Northfield came back and took the lead 27-24. At 195 pounds, Owen Murphy
wrestled a close match against Blake Fitcher and won by decision 2-1. Northfield leads 30-24.
At 220 pounds, Ryan Kuyper wrestled Max Flemke cradling him in the first period to win with a
fall. That fall secured Northfield the win over Owatonna with a score of 36-24. At 285 pounds,
Noah Ackerman fell to Grant Lower by fall. The final score was 36-30, Northfield wins!
The Raiders travel to Farmington on Saturday for a dual tournament.
