Raider Volleyball Monster Week

By AJ Reisetter

The Raider Volleyball team is coming off a monster week going 6-1 overall over four days.

The Raiders started off the week with an exciting 3-2 victory over Rochester Mayo on Tuesday. This was the first game against the Spartans since the section semifinal game last season where they knocked Northfield out of the section playoffs. Tuesday, Northfield lept out to a 2-0 lead but Mayo clawed back to tie the match 2-2 to force a fifth set. The Raiders beat the Spartans 15-6 in the final set to take the win. Northfield then traveled to Faribault and swept them 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-10) on Thursday.

On Friday they swept their opening matchups against Sioux Falls Roosevelt 2-0 (25-11, 25-20) and New Prague 2-0 (25-6, 31-29). On Saturday they beat their first opponent Lakeville South 2-0 (25-19, 25-19) but were handed their third loss of the season in their second game of the day against Marshall. The Tigers are the number one ranked team in section 3A and forced the Raiders to their only three-game match of the weekend. Marshall took the first set 25-19, but the Raiders took the second 25-21 before losing in the final set 15-12. Northfield ended the weekend defeating East Ridge 2-0 (25-23, 25-18).

The Raiders now prepare for their final game of the season on Tuesday against Rochester JM at NHS at 7:00 pm CT.
