Boys Soccer with an Exciting 2-1 overtime win!
Boys soccer with a exciting 2-1 win over Austin

On Tuesday September 20th, the Austin boys soccer team came to Memorial Field to take on the 2-2 Raiders. This match had some great intensity and energy with a Northfield player earning a red card in the second half leaving the Raiders shorthanded. Regulation ended 0-0 forcing overtime. That’s when the intensity of both teams and their fans really picked up. With just over 2 minutes left in the first overtime Northfield took a nice throw in from Senior Captain Leo Runestad to Stephen Kallestad who placed a nice pass to Senior Captain Pablo Orrego in front of Austins goal and scoring the Raiders first goal of the night. Just :30 seconds later Austin found themselves in Northfields end and ran almost the same play the Raiders just ran and scored tying the match at 1-1. The physicality, intensity and scoring continued to come in bunches! With just under 1 minute remaining in the first overtime period Stephen Kallestad applied defensive pressure, got the ball away from Austin and took a breakaway down field, stopped on a dime and placed a beautiful pass to Leo Runestad who made a nice move to score!

Nortfhield Raiders were able to hang onto that 2-1 lead throughout the second overtime period and win a very exciting game. We were able to tweet out each of the Raiders goals and exciting finish on the NorthfieldLive Twitter feed or you can rewatch the game anytime on Northfieldlive.com.
