Wrestlers kick off weekend with dominant victory over Mankato East

Before the Raiders traveled to Lacrosse, Wisc. for The Clash duals, they wrestled Mankato East in the Cougar gym.

As usual, Caley Graber started off the Raiders with a win with a tech fall over Jackson Peed. Drew Pribyl took on Jackson Stensrud at 114 pounds where he lost 18-6. Charlie Johnson had a tough match at 121 pounds losing by fall in 3:54. Caden Staab got the Raiders back on the winning side of things with a fall over Jackson Buboltz in 3:22. Laney Houts received a forfeit at 133 pounds followed by Sam Harner’s 8-0 decision over Colton Stehr.

Halfway through the dual, the Raiders lead 21 to 10. Zane Engles, won by fall in 3:42 over Max Fuller. Jamison Baker lost by fall in 2:50 to Elliott Betts to make the team score 27 to 16. Colin Staab got the train rolling again with a pin in 2:50 over Bennett Blom. Owen Murphy stepped on the mat next  to take on Luke Schulties at 172. Murphy was forced to medical forfeit the match.

To start the last three matches of the night, Forest Allen wrestled his first varsity match losing by fall to the very talented Max Morgan in 1:55. However, our monster, Ryan Kuyper came out firing with a fall in 1:02 against Tyler Thilges. Senior Noah Ackerman ended the night with a forfeit at heavyweight resulting in a team score of 45-28.

Northfield quickly took showers and boarded the bus to head to The Clash Duals, located in La Crosse, Wisc.
