The Northfield trap team traveled to Alexandria, Minnesota to compete in the state championships on June 20th. The team fell just two targets short of qualifying for the finals. However, they were crowned the skeet section 1A champions for the first time in school history. Full results for trap can be found here. Full results for skeet can be found here.
Three weeks later, ten of the top averages from the team traveled to Mason, Michigan, for the National trap shooting competition. The invite included 1800 individuals and 240 teams from across the nation. Northfield’s first squad included Tadd Stanton, Patrick Mergens, Haden Kelly, Kian Morsching, and Mason Sevcik. They shot 475/500 clay targets to qualify for finals. Northfield’s second squad: Ava Miller, Jadyn Schulz, Maddy Sevick, Owen Sexton, and Ben Albers, just missed out on qualifying for finals. The top 80 teams qualified for finals and the Raiders finished 24th shooting 476/500 targets. The national champions, a team from Calhoun, Illinois, shot 494/500 targets. Individually for the Raiders, Haden Kelly and Mason Sevcik advanced to finals with qualifying scores of 96 and 100. Sevick finished in 242nd with a final score of 95/100 and Kelly finished in 298th with a 93/100.
