Wrestlers Split Pair Of Duals At Scott West

The Northfield Raiders traveled to Jordan High School to clash with Scott West and Sibley East Thursday night.
        In the Raiders first dual of the night against fifth ranked Scott West in Class AA, Northfield lost 57-17. Northfield picked up falls from Keith Harner and Jackson Barron; along with a 19-4 tech fall from Zane Engels.
        In Northfield’s second dual of the night, they picked up a big win, 55-7 over Sibley East. The Raiders started things off with a fall from Caley Graber, followed by a forfeit to Caden Staab at 113 pounds. Next, Zane Engels won by way of a 10-4 decision over Julio Alejandro. Keith Harner won by fall at 126 pounds. Sam Harner lost 10-5 to senior Josh Sotelo at 132 pounds. At 138 pounds, Austin Benjamin won by forfeit. Iah Schweich lost 13-4 at 152 pounds. After that, it was all downhill for Sibley East. Northfield closed out the dual with five straight wins. Jackson Barron won by a major decision of 8-0 at 160 pounds followed by back to back forfeits at 170 and 182 pounds for Colin Staab and Owen Murphy. Ryan Kuyper won by fall at 195 pounds as well as Noah Ackerman’s first varsity win at heavyweight that came by fall.
       Next Thursday, Northfield hosts Faribault and Albert Lea for Takedown Cancer Night. This meet will be on NorthfieldLive.com.
