This game could have easily had a different outcome! The Owatonna Huskies came out with lots of energy and created a little luck for themselves. The Huskies took the opening 12 play drive for a touchdown that took over 8 minutes off the clock. That, unfortunately wasn’t the bottom of the first quarter hole the Raiders got into. The Raiders first possession ended quickly when Owatonna’s blitz forced a fumble on the Raider 24 yard line. The Huskies bounced the next play outside and ran for another touchdown, after the extra point, running the score to 14-0.

The second quarter was mostly spent on the Northfield side end of the field. The Raider defense held the Huskies out of the endzone on two separate drives before the Huskies scored their final points of the game. With just 1:06 left in the half and Owatonna Huskies leading 21-0 Jake Geiger received the kickoff on the 7 yard line, the Raiders kick return team got several key blocks, opened a hole in the middle of the field and that was all the speedy Geiger needed as he ran for a 93 yard touchdown. First half ends 21-7.

The third quarter was the Raider football we’ve seen this season. The offense came out with confidence and had a mixed rush pass attack. The Raider offense was able to score on their second possession of the quarter when Charlie Monaghan was able to sneak out into the flat, receive a pass from Kaiser and run in for Northfield Raiders second touchdown. Extra Point kick was blocked to set the score 21-13. The Raider defense really came back out to play as they only allowed two short Owatonna Husky possessions in the third quarter.

Fourth quarter, the Raider defense again played superb forcing 2 punts. With the Raiders 3rd possession Kaiser was able to find Geiger from 17 yards out, Geiger had great concentration as the Husky coverage was really good. The Owatonna Huskies stopped the Northfield Raiders 2 point conversion. Leading to a final score of 21-19 in what turned out to be the gritty contest we all expected to see.
